My final and 5th plein air of the day at Tewkesbury, just before getting back on the coach for the trip back to Bristol.  A view of the Bell Inn/Hotel, opposite the Abbey.  Somehow, this ended up being rather dark, going almost against the light.

4th Plein air of the day and a walk back along the banks of the River Avon towards the Mill.  Quite bright sunshine coming towards me and I liked the row of cars leading me into the scene.

The 3rd plein air just before lunch.  This is a view down St Mary's Lane and some lovely old houses with the timber fronts.  The dog was an afterthought.  I painted the figure and it looked like they were being pulled by something.  Well, it had to be a dog!

2nd Plein air painting with my art club, the Bristol Savages.  Another view towards the Abbey from the mill.  The day was starting to warm up nicely, so you have to speed up your work with watercolour.  The cars were actually parked at 90 degrees to how they are in my picture, but I think they look better this way.

Bristol Savages Artists Outing to Tewkesbury - Plein Air #1

My first plein air of Tewkesbury on a recent trip there with my art group, the Bristol Savages.  Absolutely lovely day, no wind and bright sunshine.  First plein air was an iconic view of the Abbey across the river.  Very beautiful spot and very peaceful earlier on in the morning.

Plein air painting with the Exiles - May 2019 #3

3rd painting in the afternoon, still sheltering from the strong winds behind the Scout Hut on the Waterfront in Bristol.  Here a view across some wasteland and the spire of St Mary Redcliffe.

Plein air#2 - painting with the Exiles down on Bristol Harbourside

Second painting on a recent plein air trip with my painting group, the Exiles.  The sun came out late morning, but the wind was still too strong out in exposed places. So I tucked in behind the Mud Dock Cafe building and just painted what was in front of me - the quayside, tops of boats and some apartments on the other side of the harbour as a backdrop.

Bristol Waterfront Plein Air 2019 #1

Bristol Waterfront, Watercolour, 15" x 11"

Out with my painting friends 'the Exiles' recently and a trip to nearby Bristol and its Waterfront/Harbourside area.  A very breezy day - Most of us had our easels blown over at some stage, and on this one, I was painting into the wind and had to lean forwards against my easel to hold it in place.  So here is a view towards Prince Street Bridge, the cranes beyond that and some small boats in the foreground.
