Porlock Weir Low Tide #2

Porlock Weir Low Tide 2 - Mud

Porlock, Devon, Watercolour 15" x 11"

I was inspired to paint Porlock Weir by its unique charm as a small fishing village nestled on the North Coast of Exmoor National Park. The interplay of ancient cottages, rugged shoreline, and dramatic surroundings captivated me. Its timeless atmosphere and connection to nature made it an irresistible subject for watercolour exploration.

Bridge and Reflections, Porlock Weir

Bridge and reflections Porlock Weir

Porlock Weir, UK, Watercolour, 15" x 11"

A spot not too far away from me down on the North Somerset coast.  Another low tide painting.  Low tide, exposing the harbour bed, can be just as interesting as some boat reflections!  Well in this one, best of both worlds with the bridge reflection.

Painted on Saunders Waterford, Cold Press, 300 gms.

Minehead Harbour at low tide

Minehead harbour low tide

Minehead, Somerset, 15" x 11"

Simple composition - go for 3 boats, all different sizes.  It's amazing how many colours you can sometimes find in the harbour floor.  Probably more than if it were the sea.  My reference photo was a dull December day.  I changed it to a sunny one!
