Frejus France

Frejus painting by Tim Wilmot

Thanks to Patreon member Judy Sadler for kind permission to use her photo (in our Source Photo section!) of Frejus in France for this video I will put together soon.

I find I am pre wetting my paper quite often, after drawing and before doing the first wash.  this one was done in this way.  Paper stayed damp for quite some time (in my cold studio!)

Storm approaching - Gran Canaria

Storm approaching gran canaria

Some effects that are difficult to achieve with other mediums - the mixing of different thicknesses of paint for the sky, and letting them mix a little at the edges and the glow you could get as in the centre here by leaving the paper unpainted and first laying down clear water around that bright area, or in it, then painting carefully up to the area to get a soft edge.

Mijas - Round Building

Mijas round building

The subject of a recent video up on my YouTube Channel, and the 'round' apartment building as I call it in the popular town of Mijas in southern Spain.  Very popular with the tourists, this is the 'edge' of the main tourist area with its network of narrow roads.  The levels of the building were quite tricky as they are not symmetrical - quite quirky!

Watercolor 15" x 11" on Saunders Waterford paper.

Reflections Arrecife

Video candidate - arrecife

Arrecife, Lanzarote, Watercolour, 15" x 11"

A possible candidate for a YouTube video where I loved the reflections in the scene and the glassy appearance of the surface of the water.  This is a small sheltered, tidal lake in the middle of the main town/city on the island.  Tricky having to deal with the background buildings - they are painted white but not 'white' in appearance.

Painted on Saunders Waterford, Cold Press, 300 gms.
