Riberac, France, 15" x 11"
I have painted this town in France a few times but was playing around trying to get the colour of the buildings here in France. In this one, I use mainly a combination of cerulean blue and burnt sienna to get the colour of the stone. I tried to keep everything soft, with just a few hard edges. Trying to paint in a loose style was a challenge with the windows and I think I fell into that trap with the windows on the right. Too detailed now I look at them.
Painted on Saunders Waterford, Cold Press 300 gms
