Cadeques 12

Landscape Watercolour of Cadeques, 15" x 11".

Last sketch I will do of Cadeques for a while as I've run out of source photos.  This is a view looking towards the centre of this fishing village and the church tower perched up on a little hill which dominates any view.  I think the picture could have done with a few more people in!  That beach looks deserted.  It's a popular place, really!

Painted on Saunders Waterford Paper, 140 lbs.

 

Farmyard, South Gloucestershire

A farm near to where I live with some changes (apologies to the farmer).  The background hedge and trees on the left were painted with an old brush and fairly thick pigment.  Chickens are almost small triangles hovering above the ground, with a bit of shadow underneath them.

 

Main Street in Haria, Lanzarote

Landscape Watercolour of Lanzarote, 15" x 11".

A quickish sketch I did recently of Haria in northern Lanzarote, completed in just over an hour.  Well it would have been quicker had I not gone over the sky twice.  The first pass there just wasn't the contrast required with the white-washed buildings and it needed something extra to add some interest to an otherwise uninteresting street (sorry to anyone who lives there).

 

Old Bond Street Bath

A view looking down Milsom Street in Bath to the pedestrianised Old Bond Street.  After putting in the sky wash of cerulean blue, while still damp I bled in the roof tops of a warmer tone, I think a bit of a mixture of light red and yellow ochre.  Most difficult thing was painting around the female figure with the white outfit.

Faro Street 3

Based on a holiday photo, my source picture just had the row of parked cars on the left, so I added the people and especially the solitary person in white on the right with the no entry sign, just to balance up things on that side.  The foreground shadow was invented as well.  Nice when the light comes from the side or slightly behind.
