Cinque Terre, Italy, 15" x 11"
The beautiful village of Riomaggiore on the Spezia coast of Italy. A popular village to visit in the Cinque Terre region of the coast here. Riomaggiore is a narrow village in a valley leading down to the sea, ending in a slipway and small sheltered harbour. Boats in the square above the slipway are covered in distinctive blue and white striped tarps (well some blue ones as well). Just an ideal watercolour subject with the range of values, nice shadows (when the sun comes out) and easy composition with the left and right-hand side buildings and the little'square' in the middle.
Painted on Saunders Waterford, Cold Press, 300 gms.
