Landscape Watercolour of Lanzarote, 15" x 11"
A windy day on the sea-front promenade of Arrecife, Lanzarote. Well it's windy there quite alot during the winter months with storms coming off the Atlantic. Normally I do skies in one pass, but this one had an initial wash and a bit of cobalt turquoise, then allowed to dry a bit, followed by some darker patches. Bendy tall palm trees add to the effect of the win and of course you can have all the long leaves going one way.
Painted on Saunders Waterford paper, 140 lbs.

Wow!! You've got brilliant movement in this picture Tim. It's not just the way you've rendered the trees (I can almost hear them) but also the perspective lines and that billowing sky. So clever, a superb, atmospheric picture!!!

I like how you made this painting look so effortlessly done. The use of your brush strokes definitely portrayed your message that it was a windy day. My favorite part of this painting is the palm trees because it looks like you did some dry brushing to create the rustling of the leaves. This painting makes me want to be able to walk into it and enjoy the breezy calm day just like the people in the painting.
