Too hot to do a plein air on the spot, so this is based on a reference photo of mine. This is also another one of my limited palette paintings - just three colours and a neutral tint. This helps me certainly concentrate more on values and tones, rather than having to think about which blue or which warm colour to use. To some extent I also think it helps speed up the whole painting process. So in this painting I've gone for large tonal contrasts between the figures, restaurant canopies and the background.
