Shady corner in the Placa Reial, Barcelona, Spain

Placa Reial, Barcelona, 15" x 11"

A shady corner in this large square just off the Ramblas. A very complex scene to paint with all the windows and architectural details plus figures. A few conscious decisions - make one half warm and the shady side cool. And then have figures connecting the foreground with the middle ground. The preliminary drawing was very important to get right before starting painting to make sure I know were all the main components would be.
