The Rua do Visconde de Andia in Funchal Madeira, a main road that leads down from the mountains to the sea (past the pretty little indoor market - a must see for any visit to Funchal).  All my paintings are based on photos taken on my trips, and literally a week after I took this photo, the island was hit by tragic mud slides, and this street like many was devastated by millions of tons of rocks and mud flowing down to the sea.  I have not been back since, but by all reports the island made a quick recovery.

Tavira is a lovely little town, just along the Algarve coast from Faro.  There's no 'health & safety' at the railway station.  To get to the other platform, just look both ways and cross the single track rail.

Faro, one of the main cities on the South coast of Portugal is often overlooked by the tourists who head for the main resorts of Albufeira and elsewhere on the Algarve.  Faro still retains it's old world charm with colonial architecture, white washed walls, and quiet back streets to explore.
