A group of taxis waiting in Mykonos town. There's restaurants to the left and ahead, the sea/harbour is in front. I think I broke one of my rules on this painting, by going over the sky twice: The first wash was too weak and did'nt create the contrast needed with the middle white building. So I went in with a second wash after the first had completely dried.

A mixture of different architecture in downtown Limassol, and new offices blocks rubbing shoulders with the old town. With the figures, I am trying to make them merge into their background a bit so they're not standing alone or being too isolated, and some dry brush strokes leading the eyes hopefully into the picture.
Landscape Watercolour of Athens, 15" x 11"
I decided to use an older sheet of Bockingford I had left over for this scene near the Acropolis in Athens, and a row of restaurants beside the old Roman tuins of a market place there. Well I noticed the difference in the Bockingford compared with Saunders Waterford - Bockingford is whiter and paint seems to dry quicker so you have to keep an eye on things. That's the last sheet of Bockingford for a bit I think, unless I can't afford Saunders.

Mykonos is an iconic greek island and the main town here characterised by typical narrow streets and white washed buildings. I suppose my focal point here could either be the church bell tower or the couple walking or the left hand truck. I added in pigment into the dark shadows while still wet, just to add a bit of interest and depth.

A partly made up scene of a back street in Limassol Cyprus, and an attempt to catch that bright light against the house in the middle ground. I was quite pleased with the graining effect and the warm and cool tones. I finished up with some dark dry brush strokes to add form to the architecture of the left hand buildings and the definition of the pavements.

The sweeping bay of Mykonos Town and the perimeter of wall-to-wall restaurants attracting the local tourists. I have come to the conclusion that some good paintings have bands of light and dark tones down them, so starting with the sky being normally light, then a dark mountain or row of buildings, then a line of light roof tops/blinds, then shadow coming down, then sunlight hitting the ground and so on. I'll experiment.

Fabrica Square in Mykonos, a quiet square in Mykonos Town frequented more by locals than tourists. I've tried to hint at the fruit & veg store on the right, with just an indication of produce there and a trolley catching the sunlight. Behind the couple in the centre of the square is the bus shelter and bus stop.

Maybe the last landscape I may do of Limassol due to lack of source photos I have, but a typical street scene with the warm tone of the buildings contrasting with the cool green of the shutters. I added a bit of contrast with the guy, right, against the background of the tree. I wash pushed for time doing this painting but maybe if I attempted it again, I would put more detail in.

An anonymous car parl in downtowm Limassol. I'm not exactly sure where my focal point was on this one. Why can't you have more than one. Anyway I was pleased with the way the picture turned out and I think the Alizarin Crimson wash turned out okay as the underlining tone. I experimented a bit with the palm tree leaves, painting it with a 'sword' brush.

The perimeter road around the busy port of Piraeus, and one of it's many gate entrances just on the left there. The structures on the left (advertising boards, etc) and the time of day, through interesting shadows across the road and contrasted with the pedestrian crossing going out at a different angle.
