Tortosa, Spain, 15" x 11"
A bright main avenue going through the town of Tortosa in Northern Spain. It was important in this painting to get the perspective right before ploughing into the painting proper, especially trying to make the stripes of the pedestrian crossing convincing. I kept the road quite cool and the left hand buildings warm and the two merge together on the pavement. Also, the pedestrian crossing was roughed up a little and dry brush strokes dragged across it. I went quite dark with the shadows on the left and the background to strengthen the feeling of light.
