Newquay Harbour in Cornwall - a peaceful haven and the town's best kept secret - nestles under the cliffs where it is sheltered from the prevailing westery wind. This picturesque and historic port also gave the town its name when, in 1439, permission was given to improve the natural cove in the settlement known at Towan Blystra by the building of a new quay. Today it remains a busy anchorage with a small fishing fleet which works alongside skippers offering leisure trips. The North and South Quays offer plenty of seating to relax and watch harbour life.
