The imposing doric gateway entrance to the citadel and onto many little museums in the old town area of Cagliari (also know as the Castello District I think), Sardinia. High up on the hill of San Michelle, the area is filled narrow streets and the tones of ochre-coloured historic buildings, made even brighter in the summer sun and fantastic panoramic views over Cagliari city and the Med.

Puerto Banus - A parking lot for Arabian princes oversized yachts, a bit of bling and an interesting day trip for Costa del Sol holidaymakers. You're more likely to see other tourists than any celeb though. There's some reasonably priced restaurants around the marina from where you can watch the world go by/bling.

A former Greek settlement under the name of Trilye or Triglia, the town was largely depopulated during the population exchange that followed the Turkish War of Independence in 1923 and many of the older houses are in a sad state of disrepair. Nevertheless, enough of the old houses have been restored to make Zeytinbagi probably the most attractive town in the Sea of Marmara and it is a popular destination for local tourists. The area is famous for its olives and olive oil (Zeytinbagi = olive field)

Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol has been a popular tourist destination for the Brits since the 1970's. Every year thousands of holiday makers head for the resort which is now one of the most densely populated areas on the southern coast of Spain and within Andalucia. One of Fuengirolas' biggest assets is the 7km long promenade and sandy beach. Because the sea front is very flat, it is popular with older people as well as joggers and walkers who can be seen out every day, especially at dusk.

Divan Yolu, the "Way to the Imperial Council", was once the imperial road from Constantinople to Rome. When it was laid out by Emperor Constantine the Great in the early 300s AD, Divan Yolu the main road leading from the city center on Seraglio Point to the Golden Gate in the city walls, where it met the road to Rome. Now it's a busy cosmopolitan street with a mixture of up market shops, hotels, Turkish Buffet style restaurants and the main route down to the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. The modern metro tramway runs up the middle of the street.

All around the Grand Bazaar area of Istanbul, there's distinct areas specialising in selling certain goods. Serefefendi caddesi is mostly a jewelry area on the West side of the Bazaar. Here you'll find any sort of jewelry many manufactured on site in the shops.

On Yeniçeriler Caddesi is the 35 metre high Cemberlitas Column (Constantine's Column) which was erected by the roman emperor Constantine at the centre of his Forum (now near the Grand Bazaar). It celebrated the inauguration of the new capital of the Roman empire which occurred on May 11, 330 AD. The column was originally made of ten blocks linked by bronze rings: it supported a statue of the emperor. Storms and fires have greatly damaged the column in previous centuries and only six blocks are left. By comparison the Atik Ali Pasa mosque just behind is young by comparison and dates from the late 15th century.

The Tramway station on Ordu Caddesi looking through to the minaret of the Hoca Piri Mosque (Hoca Piri Cami), and behind this is the southern entrance to the Grand Bazaar. Istanbul has a nice modern metro system covering the main routes on the European side of the city, but you have to be very careful crossing the street to get your favourite Doner Kebap as the frequent Trams travel at a fair rate of knots!
