The Rua do Visconde de Andia in Funchal Madeira, a main road that leads down from the mountains to the sea (past the pretty little indoor market - a must see for any visit to Funchal). All my paintings are based on photos taken on my trips, and literally a week after I took this photo, the island was hit by tragic mud slides, and this street like many was devastated by millions of tons of rocks and mud flowing down to the sea. I have not been back since, but by all reports the island made a quick recovery.
