A Workman in Puerto del Carmen doing it the hard way by carrying felled branches up a steep path from the sea.  He reminded me of one of those ants, carrying more than their body weight.

My favourite part of Puerto del Carmen is the 'Old Town' around the harbour area.  Located here, right overlooking the harbour area is the best Tapas bar in the Canaries (maybe the whole of Spain??) - La Lonja.  You'll find all sorts of hot and cold dishes here.  Their English isn't too hot so you end up just pointing at the portions you want to order.  Sometimes you get carried away ordering loads of dishes when you're not paying as you go!  The fishmongers next to the bar area (yes it seems to be the same place) does a brisk trade also with their fresh catch of the day.

 

The end of the Sunday Market at Teguise Lanzarote

Just after midday/early afternoon, the Sunday Market in Teguise, Lanzarote, is drawing to a close and visitors make their way back to waiting coaches, past the leather stalls, jewelry stalls, leather stalls, jewelry stalls etc.. you get the picture...

Promenade Puerto del Carmen Lanzarote

A wonderful 6km promenade along the various beaches of Puerto del Carmen, from just south of the Airport, to the Old Town. And quiet too with much of the stretch with one way traffic.

La Sirena Restaurant Corralejo Fuerteventura (the back of it)

Along the beach at Corralejo Fuerteventura you'll find numerous Bars and Restaurants.  Well I painted the back of this one - La Sirena I think it was called.  A lot more interesting from a painting point of view with the palm trees and shadows.  The other side there's really nice views over the bay.  Only one problem, their beers were twice as expensive as anyone else. 

Bus Stop Teguise Lanzarote

Early Sunday morning, Teguise, and people are arriving already to catch bargains at the local market.  The market stalls appear all through the cobbled streets and main square and thousands of people pour into the town from all over the island.  Looked like some of the vendors had come across from Morocco!  The Teguise Sunday Market is a great day out if you're visiting Lanzarote.

Corralejo Sea Front - Fuerteventura

There's a lovely walk down the sea front at Correljo, a number of charming sandy bays separated by the familiar lava outcrops.  Here you'll also find a number of bars and restaurants, some actually on the beach!  Further south the beaches turn to sand dunes, a favourite back drop for film productions.

The main street in Corralejo, Fuerteventura.  This tree lined avenue has a very European feel with a wide assortment of shops (skip past the dodgy electronics stores!).

Playa Blanca Lanzarote

Playa Blanca at the southern tip of Lanzarote is one of the newer resorts in Lanzarote.  A good bit quieter than Puerto del Carmen, if you're after a bit more peace.  Pretty windy when I was there also!  Everything was strapped down for fear of it being blown away.  Nice little trip here back to Puerto del Carmen around the national park - Timanfaya.
