Bristol Savages Wednesday Sketch night and the topic - "Always look on the bright side of life".  I decided not to go down the Monty Python route and the song, but instead adapted a previous scene I have done of the inner harbour at Dartmouth.  So a bright side of the harbour if you like.  Plenty of darks in this one and against the light.  Bit of white gouache in the final stages for the street lights etc...

As always, loving your loose style and the way you handle light. I was in Dartmouth last summer so appreciate the subject matter. When I was there I was directed to particular shop with the words " go down here and turn left when you get to the boat float". I assume that "boat float" was a local term for the inner harbour? Looking forward to Dartmouth again this summer, and taking my paints with me...

not sure about the Boat Float - it could be the inner harbour. I suppose the locals have funny names for things.
