Rethymnon Bus Station at night - first attempt at night scene
Small Square - Faro Old Town

A walk along the Nea Chora Beach, Chania, Crete

I haven't uploaded a beach  scene for a bit, so here is one.  This is the 'Nea Chora' Beach in Chania, the main coastal town in Western Crete.  I changed quite a bit from my reference photo.  I was there on a short trip one October.  The skies were gloomy and overcast.  I decided to change my painting into more of a sunny summer scene.  I warmed up the sky with cobalt blue and a little alizarin crimson.  I used the 'wet in wet' technique for the couple of breaking waves and the distant coast.

I like it Tim, much lighter and brighter than usual.

Thank you Doug - yes a bit lighter than normal!

Light indeed, Usually I don' t pay much attention to detail, but here I noticed the highlights on the birds. That works really well.
As I said before, I think this is better than the paintings you did a couple of years ago. imHo. Impressed with the waves and the 2 waves withdrawing on the right.
