Whitby Swing Bridge

Landscape Watercolour of Whitby, 15" x 11" on Saunders Waterford Rough Paper 140 lbs
Whitby Swing Bridge (great engineering swinging on two rotating spans), which is over 100 years old, was opened in July 1909, and joins the West and East sides of this seaside town. The two sides are very different in character with one side representing the old town and the other being your typical tourist attractions of amusement arcades and souvenir shops. Had great fun doing this painting, pouring on the alizarin crimson first wash to capture the tones of the old buildings there.
