Alvaro Castagnet Course Painting #3
Jun 29, 2012
Watercolour 15" x 11" on Saunders Waterford Paper 300 gms Rough
A follow up painting of Staithes, this time on the front, at low tide looking up to the 'Cob & Lobster' pub (which was closed at the time - arghhh). I think Alvaro's comment was this painting was too 'tight' and maybe lacked his 'loose' style.
This composition and dark values are very nice looking! Brilliant! I can see the 'Alvaro-esque-ness.' The people have motion and the facets of the buildings are intense. I love your 'muted' style in the background. Bravo.

Thanks Teejay. I think if I did it again, I would connect things a bit more and try and let the buildings flow into each other, roof tops merge with the sky wash etc...
