Calle Luis Doreste Silva, Las Palmas

Calle Luis Doreste Silva las palmas

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

Looking down the sweeping one way street, Calle Luis Doreste Silva, towards the old town Las Palmas (beyond the high rise office blocks in the background). This was a 'looser' painting for me which I enjoyed doing, and made easier by the simplicity of the scene and the greenery left (actually the back of a nice city park) and right.

Beach at Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

Puerto Rico is one of Gran Canaria’s most popular resorts and is situated on the south coast of the island. Once a small fishing port, today it's a very busy resort with a large sweeping beach across the whole bay. The cosy and beautiful beach sits just in front of the main promenade and there's a busy marina at each side.  Renowned to be one of the sunniest spots on the island, Playa de Puerto Rico is the place to perfect your tan!

Piazza Yenne, Cagliari, Sardinia

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

Piazza Yenne is a very busy cross road in the centre of Cagliari town. In the middle sits the proud statue of King Carlo Felice, on its own little roundabout. Beyond this, the square is a popular meeting point, especially on warm summer evenings, when the locals can stay up quite late compared with the UK!

Puerto Pesquero, Marbella

Puerto Pesquero, Marbella, also known as the La Bajadilla port.  Not as opulent as it's neighbour close by, Puerto Banus, but none the less a nice sized marina with plenty of posh yachts to admire, and a nice walk around the perimeter.  It's about to be made a whole lot larger to take in Cruise ships by 2015.

Talamanca back street, Ibiza, 2

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

About an hours walk from Ibiza Town centre and you can get to the picturesque bay of Talamanca.  The peaceful resort offers a beautiful sandy beach with shallow waters and many little streets behind the shoreline to explore.

Borough Market, London

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

Borough Market in Southwark, London. One of the largest food markets in London and a hive of activity at lunchtime with tourists and office workers.  Borough Market's gourmet food market consists of up to 70 stalls and stands. Producers from all over the country bring a range of fresh produce to the market, including fish, meats, vegetables, ciders, cheeses, breads, coffees, cakes and patisseries.

Sıraselviler Caddesi, Istanbul

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

Sıraselviler Caddesi, Istanbul, leading down from Taksim Square.  It's a busy shopping street with many up market shops and small malls.  Also from Taksim square there's a lovely old red tram that takes you down this street to the older part of the city.

Faro Centre on the Algarve, Portugal

Watercolor 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

Faro centre and nothing is more than a 30 minute walk away.  Around the centre of town are tall period buildings. This is the view out towards the marina and an open park space with wide boulevard. Faro is often overlooked as visitors just pass it on their way to the resorts, but those who choose to linger a while find a town of considerable charm and the real heart of the Algarve.

Mudanya Street in Turkey

Watercolour 15" x 11" on Bockingford paper 140lbs

A typical street in Mudanya on the Marmara Sea coast of Turkey.  Another chance to try a loose painting which I completed in approx 40 minutes including allowing time for the first wash to dry. I think these Mediterranean subjects with deep shade and high contrasts suit a loose style.
